Dr. Ben Lippe is a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas, and is Board Certified in Clinical Health Psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Lippe is highly experienced in the specialized field of Health Psychology, having worked in a variety of medical settings including more than 10 years at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Lippe received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Abilene Christian University.

Following a period of time serving Veterans through the VA in Central Texas, he decided to pursue a doctorate degree in order enhance his training and ability to serve patients.

It was through this pursuit that he obtained a doctorate degree (PhD) in Clinical Psychology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. It was during his graduate training that he first found his enjoyment of Health Psychology through a practicum rotation on the Consultation Liaison service at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Lippe’s dissertation topic, under the supervision of Dr. Robert Gatchel, was on the topics of interdisciplinary chronic pain management and the Pain Disability Questionnaire.

Following his doctorate studies, he pursued a Fellowship through SMU Counseling & Psychiatric Center, where he provided counseling services.

Clinical Experience

Dr. Lippe has earned the Telepsychology Competencies Credential through the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and The Trust. He is also credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.

Other training and professional experience includes Baylor Center for Pain Management, where he provided psychological assessments and consultation for individuals with pain conditions.

He also served in an outpatient practice with Great Life Counseling Center in Addison, Texas.

He was also the first embedded psychologist within solid-organ transplant medical services at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Lippe’s leadership and program development efforts include being the first psychologist on the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service at Clements University Hospital, rated by US News & World Report as the #1 hospital in the state of Texas.

In his role as Associate Professor, Dr. Lippe’s academic efforts include teaching graduate students in the UT Southwestern Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology.

He was honored to receive the Outstanding Teacher Award for his role as course instructor for the Health Psychology course.

A number of former students continue to pursue careers within health psychology, improving access to care for Texans.

Dr. Lippe has also trained and supervised numerous medical Residents and Fellows through the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

In addition to his clinical work, he has also authored a variety of scholarly works including highly cited peer-reviewed journal articles.

Other Professional Activities

Dr. Lippe’s service has extended to involvement with a range of committees including the UTSW Multidisciplinary Pain Management & Opioid Stewardship Committee as well as the Psychiatric Hospital Medical Complexity Subcommittee.

He has been a member of the American Psychological Association, Texas Psychological Association, and the Southwestern Psychological Association.

Dr. Lippe has served within professional organizations including the Dallas Psychological Association (previously served as a Trustee), and the Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers (served on Membership Committee).

Consultation Experience

For over a decade, Dr. Lippe has served as a consultant to medical providers including physicians, surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and hospital administration.

Of particular note, he has been an active participant as a consultant within the UTSW solid-organ transplant medical services. Dr. Lippe has attended hundreds of transplant selection committee meetings for the heart, lung, liver, and kidney transplant teams.

Further, his professional presentations to staff and medical faculty, including physician colleagues and other psychologists, have helped support advancements in the provision of psychological, psychiatric, and medical care for patients.

He has honed these professional consultation skills within the unique and nuanced word of healthcare. It’s an honor for medical colleagues to trust another professional in working with their patients, and Dr. Lippe recognizes the importance of each of these relationships.
